In this one, I start with painting over the existing painting that I have. The advantage of using existing painting is I automatically get the color palette to use in the current one. You can scroll down further to see step by step images with instruction.

When I start a speedpainting I usually have a rough idea of what I am going to paint. It also helps if you have some story to tell in the scene. Then I layout the composition in my head just with shapes. I often prioritize three things after I set my mind on the composition.
1) Foreground, mid-ground, and background.
2) Shapes and how they interact (or what happen)
3) Lighting the scene. How to I light this scene to convey my message or to make it looks interesting.
