In this tutorial I will show you how to paint a vulture in a video instruction and step by step still images. This piece is another one one of my collective study on birds of prey. Here I will show you my painting process using Photoshop as a digital painting tool. In this painting exercise I get the over all value in gray scale first then I will begin painting over using overlay layer. It is like using water color paint over the tight drawing. Though in the final stage, I use opaque or solid color to bring out tighter form and create unique brush strokes on the subject more like oil painting. It is a lot more forgiving and convenient to do this in any digital painting program and Photoshop because you can adjust opacity or you paint and using overlay to get the transparent effect.

Here is a final painting of a griffon vulture.
