This is a speed painting tutorial on the story of a golden horde raid the city. This speed painting I am after the Mongol invasion of Eastern Europe story. Mongol invasions progressed throughout the 13th century, resulting in the vast Mongol Empire which covered much of Asia and Eastern Europe by 1300.
In this tutorial, I will show how I approach to speed painting as many professional concept artists would do as exercise on daily basis. Speed Painting is an exercise, primarily digital, in which one paints on a time budget, using already developed methods to create a quick composition painting to represent their idea. Mostly speed painting are done in pre-production stage for video games and movies. It doesn’t so much focus on detail but the overall look and feel of the image just to quickly convey the idea. It is basically the same as a quick concept art or visual concept mocked up or could be use as a storyboard.
This is part of a conceptual series I am working on for fun. I was inspired after reading a novel call “Genghis: Lords of the Bow” by Conn Iggulden. It is book two from the series of Genghis Khan story.
Here is a final image, it takes me almost two hour to paint this.
Below are step by step images how to paint the raid.
