This post also include step by step images with in depth detail description inside this tutorial. The step by step images be a good assistance if you get stuck watching the video. It is easier to see the transition in still step by step format. It is a perfect pairing with the video instruction. In this tutorial, you will learn to draw a Fei Long’s face, hair and part of his upper body. I will also show you how to draw proper muscle structure for this type of character like shoulders, biceps, triceps, and chest muscles. It is important have some knowledge of anatomy, mostly the muscles that are most visible. This drawing took me about forty-five minutes to draw just for tutorial purpose. Usually the easiest way to start drawing something or figure is to use simple geometry shapes as guideline to get the basic idea down. It will make your job of getting correct proportion and accuracy easier, sometimes faster. Remember to always observe the character with keen eyes then keep it simple and keep the foundation correct before going on to the next step.
Fei-Long is Capcom’s tribute to the Jeet Kune Do movie legend Bruce Lee, the basis for his design. Not only do the two look alike and come from the same city, Fei-Long also lets out similar battle cries to Lee, and is just as furious and fast. Also, Fei Long (飛龍) is Mandarin for “flying dragon”, as well as a type of kick. Fei Long is very serious most of the time. He is also shown to be calm at times. The best example of this is in his rival fight against Abel, where he is shown to be in a normal mood at first but all of a sudden loses his temper just as the Frenchman asks him for a fight 2 times. There are also times when Fei Long is shown to be a little cocky.

Here is a final drawing of Fei Long.

Below are step by step images how to draw Fei Long. Step one and two, I am just trying to sketch out the structure of the overall shape of the his head. At this point, do not worry so much about little detail, try to get the most accurate big shape of the subject you are drawing first. Step three, I already have the foundation sketch, then I can just add in eyes, nose, mouth, and hair base on the construction line you already have. There are vertical line and horizontal lines to establish the facial structure as instruct on the video tutorial. Step four, Now we begin to see Fei Long’s face coming along. At this point, try to get his facial structure as accurate as it can be. Drawing correctly or accurately is better than getting more lines or add in detail to cover up the mistake or the unsure area, accuracy first then detail.
