Blizzard concept art digital painting tutorial

Wolves vs a kid in Blizzard concept art digital painting tutorial. This is another quick thirty minutes painting video tutorial on environmental concept art. It is also in the theme of snow region environment, most of video games’ environmental have snow region.
In this quick painting, I was inspired by the scene of a young Temujin, Genghis Khan, was surrounded by a pack of wolves in a blizzard on top of the Altai mountain in Gobi desert. He ran from the enemy’s Mongol tribe and roamed through desert and mountain range in winter to hide.

If you pay attention, you will realize that the most important things are three big shapes (foreground, mid-ground and background) before anything else. Especially in this one big huge shadow patch on the left and lighter snow color on the right. Within the big shapes, there are some minor detail like rock, figures, and wolves.

Here is a final speed painting of Wolves vs Temujin in blizzard.
