Mazinger Z base environmental concept tutorial. This was my second attempt to make a more epic sci-fi environmental concept tutorial after I did the giant robot base. In this one, I use two point perspective instead of the one point from previously. Also I love Mazinger when I was a kid so this is also a tribute to my giant robot hero.
In the first panel, the thumbnail, it was just a rough perspective grids along with a bunch of cranes in a giant factory. But as I progressed, I try to make it even more complex than what I did before by adding more elements and even more depth into the scene. Then I added the over looking platform to put the characters in from the viewer’s point of view.
If you follow my art tutorials blog, you’d notice that I did a lot of basic environmental design tutorial recently. It is mainly for my own sake in improving my concept art skill. This one takes a lot more time than all of the environmental concept I’ve ever done.
