In this tutorial, I will show you how to draw Polaris, a female character from X-men, simple step by step instruction. I will draw her in a front view standing with her right arm reaching foreword pose.  As long as you follow the guideline correctly, you will be able to get the similar result. It is important to know anatomy, specially if you want to be good at character design or concept artist. Most of Marvel and DC superheroes have form fitting uniform. So it is necessary to know muscle groups and anatomy. Though you don’t have to know every muscles on the body, but it is still very important to make sure that the major muscle groups are correct.

Below are step by step how to draw Polaris.  Start with a head shape and construction sketch lines over it.  Step two, now draw the eyes (They should be along the horizontal lines), nose, and lips.  Step three, add her hair, head dress and really rough shape for her torso.  Step four, now add her arms and refine her body shape.  Step five, once the body frame is set up, now you can draw her legs.  Step six, now draw over the existing lines, add her costume and finish up.
