How to draw Ranma. Ranma Saotome (早乙女乱馬) is the protagonist and title character of Ranma 1/2. Ranma’s most recognizable physical trait is his trademark pigtail, although before he was cursed he wore it instead as a ponytail. In the anime, male Ranma has black hair while his female form has red hair. In order to help distinguish between Ranma’s forms in the manga, Takahashi always drew Ranma’s female form with a shiny spot in her hair. However when the first chapter of the manga when published in Shonen Sunday was printed in color, it portrayed Ranma’s female form as having the same black hair as her male form. Ranma favors Chinese-style clothing in the form of long-sleeved, short-sleeved, or sleeveless shirts of various colors, black pants (also dark blue or blue-green in the anime), and slip on shoes. I am trying to get the drawing as close to the original work as possible. This fan art/ tutorial was done as a tribute to the series and creator, Rumiko Takahashi. Below are step by step how to draw Ranma. Step one, I started with circle shape. Step two, I drew three lines to measure the facial feature. Step three, I drew eyes, nose, and mouth over those lines. I also added some hair. Step four, I finished his hair and torso. Step five, I added his arms and pig tail. Step six, I finished the drawing.
