How to draw Manga, Ukyo Kuonji from Ranma 1/2. Ukyo Kuonji (久遠寺 右京 ) is Ranma Saotome’s childhood friend and one of his three fiancées. Ukyo has long black hair (brown in the anime) that she will usually either secure with a headband or bow, or hair tie if she is in school. She normally wears the attire of okonomiyaki chef, which consists of a short-sleeved blouse with the sleeves tied back (blue with white trim in the anime) and form-fitting black pants. In this tutorial you will learn to draw a Ukyo Kuonji, one of Ranma’s three fiancées. I will show you step by step drawing her face and partial body. The Manga is one of my childhood’s favorite Manga series. I am trying to get her drawing as close to the original work as possible. This fan art/ tutorial was done as a tribute to the series and creator, Rumiko Takahashi. I hope you guys will learn some drawing tips and technique from the tutorial. As usual I start my rough sketch with simple geometry shapes to construct the basic Manga head and body. By following this process, you will find drawing is lot easier. It is very important to get the shape, proportion and placement right in the beginning. If you understand its basic foundation, it will be easier to draw anything.
Ten years before prior to the manga’s beginning, he met her during a training voyage to the country with Genma. Her father proposed an arranged marriage to Ranma, who was unaware that she was a girl, with his okonomiyaki cart acting as the dowry, to which Genma agreed. But when an oblivious Ranma said he liked okonomiyaki more than Ukyo, Genma stole the cart, breaking the engagement and leaving her behind. Shamed and ridiculed by her peers for not being feminine enough to keep her fiance, she gave up her femininity decided she wouldn’t like boys. She dressed and lived as one, even attending an all-boys school at one point. During this time, she devoted herself to okonomiyaki-style martial arts to prepare to exact revenge on the Saotomes.
Below are step by step how to draw Ukyo Kuonji. Step one, I drew a circular shape for her face and head. Step two, I drew first horizontal line (on top) and a vertical line in the middle of the face, the intersection point should be right in the middle of the face. The space in between the horizontal lines is where the eyes will be drawn. Step three, I drew both her eyes, nose, mouth and rough sketch for her hair. Step four, I added ear, bow, and both of her arms. Step five, I added her ki, folded sleeves, and rough sketch of her fist. Step six, I finished up the rest of the drawing with details.
