How to draw Night Elf

How to draw Night Elf from World of Warcraft. This one is a bit longer than my usual tutorial because it cover most of her body part and figure. This post you will learn to draw a female Night Elf character with step by step images in depth detail instruction. This tutorial will show you how to draw a female Night Elf’s facial feature, hair, and her body. The second half of the tutorial I cover how to shade her whole body using gray tone. And yes, it is done digitally in Photoshop, but you can also achieve the same thing using just pencil. It is simple enough because it is only black and white image, no color involve. First, I usually just draw simple shapes using gesture lines to established base and foundation of a figure. The reason I started off like that because I want to achieve accurate proportion before I actually start finalize the darker lines. We can build the detail on top of the foundation, this way is a lot easier and will be more accurate. It is important to get accurate proportion for initial sketch first. Always observe the object carefully and keep it simple to begin with. The foundation is everything to make an accurate sketch before you drawing on top of it. The best way to improve your figure or portrait drawing is to attend life drawing session nearest you.
The night elves, or kaldorei are “Children of the Stars” in their native tongue of Darnassian. They have a long and fascinating history. Native to the western continent of Kalimdor, the night elves ended a long period of seclusion at the end of the Third War and became members of the Alliance. For ten thousand years, the immortal night elves cultivated a druidic society within the shadowed recesses of Ashenvale Forest. Then the catastrophic invasion of the Burning Legion shattered the tranquility of their ancient civilization. Led by the Arch-Druid Malfurion Stormrage and the Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind, the mighty night elves rose to challenge the demonic onslaught. Aided by the newly arrived orcs and humans, the night elves succeeded in halting the Legion’s advance and defeating its master, the demonlord Archimonde. Though victorious, the night elves were forced to sacrifice their cherished immortality and watch their beloved forests burn.

Here is a final drawing of Night Elf.

Below are step by step how to draw Night Elf.  Step one, I started off with simple shape for her head, torso and pelvis.  Step two, I add guide lines for her facial structure.  Then I drew her arms and thighs.  Step three, I then added her facial structure (eyes, nose, mouth) and some fingers.  Step four, I drew her costume on top of the existing figure.  At these stages, I am still using light line because it is not yet a refine drawing.  You can just use darker lines to draw over step 4, and you will just have finished line drawing of Night Elf.
