Author's Description:

“I’ll be back…” Art inspired by the Terminator universe – evil androids are coming to the era of medieval Japan, and there as Samurais bring doom… or something like that (I wanted something more original and ambiguous)…

… Apocalypse could happen at different times / worlds / circumstances, I tried these …

I’m getting some questions about the story behind the graphics. So despite my poor English I will try to present a possible history of the post apocalyptic samurai:

“In the future, artificial intelligence SkyWeb took control. The man became a threat that needed to be rectified. SkyWeb after gaining access to time-travel technology sent androids in the past (to manipulate history). Then the guerillas attacked and launched the virus. Due to error androids landed in feudal Japan. This time line has been disrupted.  Androids with a damaged program using knowledge and technology of the future led to the apocalypse. Nowadays, the people who escaped with their lives are haunted by the merciless androids hidden under the guises of  “Samurai Lords” … “

This story is nothing special, but I hope that anyone understood what I meant.

Cheers and thank you for support.

  2. Midnite Breathnach

bad ass piece man excellent ;)

  3. David Sherwin

I love it but its not really inspiring ‘post apocalyptic’ at the moment. Other than that it looks like its going to be fantastic!

  4. Mori

nice work and nice Samurai… but like David say .. its don’t looks post apocalyptic for me!

  5. SlawomirWolicki

Yes, I chose a specific universe, not the typical Mad Max etc; but rather the universe of the Terminator…

  6. Mori

Don’t misunderstand me… i like your pic .. it is very cool .. but in my opinion you’ve missed the point… you’ve designed a fantastic samurai… but red eyes and a background story which is not visible in the image is not post-apocalyptic… but that is my opinion

  7. Glenn Foster

I like the design and technique alot, but deffinately agree with the others
If only I could apply your skills to my own entry

  8. Midnite Breathnach

I disagree with all above, why isnt it “post apocolyptic” ? because it doesnt have a gun or modern enviro? not every entry has to be madmax.. I say you nailed it man great piece

    Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_apocalyptic

Apocalyptic fiction is a sub-genre of science fiction that is concerned with the end of civilization due to a catastrophe such as nuclear warfare, pandemic, alien invasion, impact event, cybernetic revolt, Technological Singularity, Dysgenics, supernatural phenomena, Ecological disaster, resource depletion or some other general disaster. Post-apocalyptic fiction is set in a world or civilization after such a disaster. The time frame may be immediately after the catastrophe, focusing on the travails or psychology of survivors, or considerably later, often including the theme that the existence of pre-catastrophe civilization has been forgotten (or mythologized). Post-apocalyptic stories often take place in an agrarian, non-technological future world, or a world where only scattered elements of technology remain. There is a considerable degree of blurring between this form of science fiction and that which deals with dystopias.

For me is is not visible in the image.

This is a great piece regardless. The technique used is fantastic and I think you have nailed the mood

great peice sir i see watchu mean mori but apocalyptic can be portrayed in shape form or fashion just because its not in the confines of the obvious with destroyed buildings and such does not make it anyless apocalyptic

    Thx
To Mori and Glen check the description under the pictures, there is more about my inspiration.
    Cheers.

looks amazing as is but as David and Mori said that the feel of post-apocalyptic is lacking. It looks just like a regular samurai (or a cyborg one at that) I think some improvised armors from scraps or garbages should do the trick. That my opinion anyway…still my fav from the bunch :D

  15. Luca Cauchi

I like the texture in it, well done

Reminds me of Kekai Kotaki’s paintings for guildwars, looking forward to seein what else you come up with!
